Additional Tariffs Slated for Monday
Over the past several months the U.S. has been implementing tariffs in phases urging China to change their unfair practices related to United States technology and intellectual property, and give fair and reciprocal treatment to American companies.
Earlier this week the President directed the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to proceed placing additional tariffs on roughly $200 billion of imports from China.
According to the President “we have given China every opportunity to treat us more fairly. But, so far, China has been unwilling to change its practices.” Customs and Border Protection will begin to collect additional duties of 10% on September 24, 2018. On January 1, the tariffs will rise to 25%.
